Dog Killed, Firefighter Hurt in Commack House Fire

BREAKING: The fire broke out Friday night.

COMMACK, NY – A dog was killed and a firefighter suffered minor injuries in a house fire in Commack Friday night, authorities said.

The Commack Fire Department received a call for the fire at 33 Dryden Way just after 9 p.m. Chief Richard Myers arrived with smoke showing from a two-story house and requested the alarm to be activated as a working fire, bringing in mutual aid from other fire departments.

Firefighters quickly stretched hand lines to the rear and the front of the house to attack the fire, which was located in the basement and the walls throughout the house.The fire took about 30 minutes to bring under control. One firefighter was transported to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.
