Fundraiser Started In Memory Of Commack Coach David Meyer
The local resident passed away last month.

A local resident recently started a fundraising campaign in memory of a Commack coach who passed away recently.
On May 25, Brian Ott created a page on GoFundMe on behalf of the family of local resident and coach, David Meyer, who died on May 21 at the age of 51.
"Dave was a fixture here in Commack on the playing fields and basketball courts," the page reads. "He spent many years coaching all of our children in Commack and every single one of them loved playing for him."

"Dave was full of life and passion and it showed throughout the community," Ott wrote on the page. "We are all better people just knowing him. He was always the life of the party and he truly believed that we needed to take time to enjoy life."
Ott started the page in order to "honor" Meyer's legacy.
"He loved being around all of our children on the fields, laughing with them, teaching them about sports but also about life," he wrote. "Now it is our time as a community to show the Meyer family our love for them and for Dave. Dave touched many lives here in Commack and now it's time we repay the favor."
The goal of the page is to raise a total of $20,000 for the Meyer family. As of Friday, the page has raised a total of $7,460.
