Gurwin Memory Care Nurse Honored With Best Of Long Island Award
A longtime nurse in Gurwin Healthcare System's Memory Care Unit was recognized for her compassionate care and dedication to residents.

COMMACK, NY — Gurwin Healthcare System's longtime nurse Tabitha Gully has been honored with a FourLeaf Best of Long Island award recognizing her dedication to residents and families in the organization’s Memory Care Unit.
Gully, a Farmingdale resident, has spent more than 26 years caring for residents at Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Commack. She began working at the facility in October 1999 as a certified nursing assistant on the long-term care unit before becoming a licensed practical nurse in 2002.
Over the years, she served on several units before transitioning in 2014 to Gurwin’s specialized Memory Care Unit, where she now works with residents living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

“I’ve spent most of my career at Gurwin, and caring for our residents has become part of who I am,” Gully said. “Working in memory care requires patience, compassion and understanding, but it’s incredibly rewarding to build relationships with residents and their families and help make them feel safe, supported and valued every day. I’m honored and humbled to receive this recognition.”
Gully has completed extensive dementia care education through the organization’s in-service training department and programs offered by the Alzheimer's Association, earning accreditation as a Certified Dementia Care Professional.

Gurwin’s Memory Care program provides specialized support for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, with a focus on dignity, engagement and quality of life.
Gurwin’s nursing department nominated her for her work supporting residents living with memory loss and cognitive challenges. Colleagues praised her calm demeanor during high-stress situations and her ability to de-escalate behaviors while maintaining a supportive environment for residents and staff.
