Highway Patrol Officer Hospitalized After Commack Crash

The crash occurred on Thursday night.

COMMACK, NY - A Highway Patrol officer was hospitalized after a crash in Commack on Thursday night, according to Suffolk Police.

The officer was traveling in a police vehicle westbound in the right lane of Vanderbilt Parkway at 7:30 p.m. when a 2002 Mercedes traveling eastbound in the left lane made a turn and hit the police vehicle.

The officer was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for minor injuries, police said.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 42-year-old man, was not injured. The driver was not arrested.
