Hobby Lobby To Open First Long Island Store This Month
The new store in Commack is set to host a grand opening on June 26.

Hobby Lobby will be opening up their first Long Island store in Commack this month.
The retail chain of craft and home decor stores, is set to host a grand opening event at the new store on 124 Veterans Memorial Highway on Monday, June 26.
Construction and renovations have begun on the 43,000 square-foot building at the former Sports Authority location in King Kullen Plaza.

Hobby Lobby currently has 14 locations in New York and 750 stores across the nation.
The new store is set to hire between 35 and 50 employees.

“The success of our stores in New York is a good indicator that Commack shoppers will be pleased with the quality, selection and value we offer in the craft and home decor market,” John Schumacher, Assistant Vice President of Advertising said. "New customers and customers already familiar with the Hobby Lobby shopping experience are eagerly anticipating this store opening.”
The Oklahoma City-based company began as Greco, a miniature picture frame company in 1970. When David Green moved his business from the family garage to a 300 square-foot retail space in 1972, Hobby Lobby was born.
