King Kullen to Shut Down Two Long Island Stores This Month

The two stores will be closed by March 30.

King Kullen recently announced that two of its Long Island supermarkets will be shutting down this month.

On March 30, the stores in Syosset, located on 271 Jericho Turnpike, and in Commack, located on 120 Veterans Memorial Highway, will be closed down.

“To stay competitive in a changing market, King Kullen developed a strategic plan that included closing underperforming stores," King Kullen Co-President Brian Cullen said in a statement.

According to Cullen, employees for both stores will be reassigned to other stores and no layoffs are anticipated.

It appears no other store closures are planned in the foreseeable future.

"Thanks to our fiscally conservative growth strategy, King Kullen’s 32 remaining stores in Nassau and Suffolk are now stronger and better-positioned to meet the needs of our valued customers," Cullen said.
