LIRR To Provide Extra Trains For New Year's Weekend

LONG ISLAND, NY - The Long Island Rail Road announced there will be extra trains for those getting an early start on the New Year’s holiday weekend.

Local residents will be have 13 extra trains to travel to New York City on Friday and 10 extra trains on New Year’s Eve this Sunday. There will also be 14 extra trains headed back to Long Island on New Year’s Day this Monday.

Friday, December 29:

Eastbound – 13 extra trains Departing Penn Station

Ronkonkoma Branch

• 12:43 p.m. train from Penn Station, stopping at Woodside, Jamaica, Mineola, Hicksville, then all stops to Ronkonkoma.
• 1:49 p.m. train from Penn Station, stopping at Woodside, Jamaica, Mineola, Hicksville, then all stops to Ronkonkoma.

Babylon Branch

• 1:28 p.m. train from Penn Station, express to Rockville Centre, then local to Babylon.
• 1:56 p.m. train from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Rockville Centre, then local to Babylon.
• 2:22 p.m. train from Penn Station, express to Rockville Centre, then local to Babylon.
• 2:32 p.m. train from Penn Station, express to Lynbrook, then local to Babylon.
• 3:00 p.m. train from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Rockville Centre, then local to Babylon.
• 3:31 p.m. train from Penn Station, express to Rockville Centre, then local to Babylon.

Port Jefferson Branch to Hicksville/Huntington

• 2:08 p.m. train from Penn Station to Jamaica, Mineola, then local to Huntington.
• 2:29 p.m. train from Penn Station to Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Jamaica, New Hyde Park, then local to Huntington.
• 3:24 p.m. train from Penn Station to Jamaica, Mineola, Westbury and Hicksville.

Port Washington Branch to Great Neck

• 3:40 p.m. train from Penn Station to Woodside, Flushing Main Street, then all stops to Great Neck.

Far Rockaway Branch

• 3:48 p.m. train from Penn Station, stopping at Locust Manor, Laurelton, Rosedale, Valley Stream then all stops to Far Rockaway.

Sunday, December 31

On New Year’s Eve, the LIRR will provide extra westbound trains in the late afternoon and early evening for those going to Manhattan to celebrate. The extra service includes:

• 5:09 p.m. train from Ronkonkoma, local to Hicksville, stopping at Mineola, Jamaica and Penn Station.
• 7:09 p.m. train from Ronkonkoma, local to Hicksville, stopping at Mineola, Jamaica and Penn Station.

Babylon Branch

• 6:19 p.m. train from Babylon, local to Lynbrook, stopping at Jamaica and Penn Station.
• 7:19 p.m. train from Babylon, local to Lynbrook, stopping at Jamaica and Penn Station.

Port Jefferson Branch

• 6:42 p.m. train from Huntington, local to New Hyde Park, stopping at Jamaica and Penn Station.
• 6:45 p.m. train from Port Jefferson, local to Huntington, stopping at Hicksville, Jamaica and Penn Station.

Port Washington Branch

On New Year’s Day, the LIRR will operate on a weekend/holiday schedule with off-peak fares in effect all day, plus 14 extra trains from Penn Station for revelers heading back to Long Island after midnight. The extra service includes:

• 2:03 a.m. train from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, Hicksville, then all stops to Ronkonkoma.
• 3:53 a.m. train from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, Hicksville, then all stops to Ronkonkoma.

Port Washington Branch

• 12:35 a.m. train from Penn Station to Woodside, Flushing Main Street, then all stops to Port Washington.
• 2:19 a.m. train from Penn Station to Woodside, Flushing Main Street, then all stops to Port Washington.
• 4:19 a.m. train from Penn Station to Woodside, Flushing Main Street, then all stops to Port Washington.
