Local Scouting Volunteer Receives Prestigious Award

Boy Scout scouting volunteer Tom Rolston of East Northport was recognized with the prestigious David Brady Commissioner Award

On March 23, 2017, Boy Scout scouting volunteer Tom Rolston of East Northport was recognized with the prestigious David Brady Commissioner Award from the Suffolk County Council, Boy Scouts of America, during their annual Fellowship Dinner at the Stonebridge Golf Club in Hauppauge. Named in memory of Council Commissioner David Brady, this award honors an individual who has held many positions in the council at all levels, who leads with inspiration, demonstrating leadership through diligence and attention to detail, and takes all administrative aspects of Scout Commissioning very seriously.

Mr. Rolston, a 40 year scouting veteran in Suffolk County Council, has served in a variety of capacities over the years including Webelos Leader, Assistant Cubmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster, Troop Advancement Chair, Merit Badge Counselor, Unit Commissioner, District Committee Member, Assistant District Commissioner and District Commissioner.

In addition to his responsibilities as Commissioner, Mr. Rolston has recently taken on the leadership role to track all Webelos Scouts for registration and recruitment purposes and is presently developing a role as champion for Adult Youth Protection Training enhancements within the Suffolk County Council.
