Come get to know us and BE A GREENER YOU!! Savers Thrift SuperStore has been here in Commack (next to TJ Maxx at the intersection of Jericho & Larkfield) for nearly 4 years. Yet, so many in our community don’t know we’re here and don’t know what we do! We are a professional fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island. We are part of a chain of more than 330 stores located in the U.S., Canada & Australia. Started in 1954 as a socially responsible business, Savers remains committed to funding our nonprofit partners, strengthening the communities we serve and protecting the planet by improving lives through the power of reuse. We’ve been dedicated to recycling as an integral part of our business since long before it was cool! In fact, we were recycling before recycling was a “thing”!

We serve our community by offering a treasure trove of thrifty bargains—thousands of fresh items are added to the sales floor daily! How do we fit it all on our racks and shelves? First, our store is huge, and it’s both bright and airy. Second, we remove items that don’t sell within a certain period of time to make room for all that fresh merchandise. As one of the nation’s largest textile recyclers, we keep our racks and shelves shoppable by sending unsold items to small businesses in developing countries. More important, we constantly reach out to local nonprofits such as schools, churches, temples, service organizations, PTAs and any other conceivable nonprofit to donate our perfectly good unsold items. Are you a nonprofit that can benefit from this program? We’re pretty green so we find a use for nearly everything!

Interested? Arrange a store tour for your class, scout troop, seniors group, service organization or any other group of any age or interest. Learn about the environmental impact of clothing and other textiles, learn how our store and company operate, learn about Savers’ community programs and its recycling system. Also, a knowledgeable Savers team member can come to you. We feel so strongly about protecting the Earth that we spread our message through our environmental education programs at schools, libraries and other locations.

All of our programs, including your shopping experience, beginwith donations from community members like you! Come to our Community Donation Center at the store and we’ll unload your donations from your car, provide you with a tax receipt from Big Brothers Big Sisters of L.I., provide you with a Donor Appreciation Card (used for up to a 30% discount off your entire purchase on any day before the end of the year) and invite you to celebrate one of the many Donor Appreciation Days we celebrate with prizes and giveaways! Nearly every kind of donation is gratefully accepted during our store hours (9am-9:30pm M-S, 10am-7:30pm Sun.)
