Man Charged With DWI After Driving Wrong Way on LIE: Police

BREAKING: The man was arrested early Tuesday morning.

COMMACK, NY - A Bellerose man was arrested on a DWI charge after driving the wrong way on the Long Island Expressway early Tuesday morning, according to Suffolk Police.

Following multiple 911 calls regarding a wrong-way driver at about 2:20 a.m., officers responded to the westbound LIE near exit 52 in Commack where they were able to locate the wrong-way car, police said.

Ivan Ceron, 23, who was driving a 2010 Nissan eastbound in the westbound HOV lane, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.

Ceron was also issued summonses for driving the wrong way, driving an unregistered vehicle and operating a motor vehicle below the minimum posted speed limit, police said.

He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.
