Man Crashes Car Into Commack Gas Station: Police

The man hit a gas pump and another vehicle after he drove his Dodge off the road, police say. He was arrested.

COMMACK, NY — A Coram man was arrested after he crashed into a Commack gas station on Wednesday night, Suffolk police said.

Hunter Addonizio, 21, was driving a 2010 Dodge Challenger westbound on Veterans Memorial Highway when he tried to merge onto Jericho Turnpike, police said. The Dodge went off the road and crashed into a gas pump and another vehicle at Sunoco, at 2211 Jericho Turnpike, at 11 p.m., police said.

A man and a woman, who were inside the vehicle that was struck, were brought to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

Addonizio was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and alcohol. He was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Central Islip.
