COMMACK, NEW YORK —Last week, students at North Ridge Elementary School in the Commack School District celebrated Winter Wonderland, a week dedicated to spreading kindness and celebrating winter. Student excitement was evident from the first day of the week when students entered North Ridge finding all the hallways decorated in winter-themed icy blue and white decor.

Throughout the week, students and staff participated in themed days kicking off the week by wearing all blue to represent kindness. For example, Tuesday was Pajama Day; Wednesday was Be an Inspiration Day, in which students were encouraged to wear clothing with positive messages on them; and Thursday’s theme was Let’s Celebrate Winter, during which students sported blue, white, snowflakes, and any other winter-themed apparel.

The fun-filled week concluded with students wearing North Ridge spirit gear and an annual bingo game. Additionally, as an extension to the theme of "winter and kindness,” the school is asking for new warm winter wear such as gloves, hats, scarves, and socks, which will be delivered to Community Solidarity, a local organization that provides for families in need.
