Pedestrian Killed In Commack Crash

The driver was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

COMMACK, NY - A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car during a crash in Commack on Friday morning, according to Suffolk Police.

Marvin Bressler, 81, of Commack was walking on New Highway, 100 feet west of Mohegan Lane, at 9:05 a.m. on July 28 when he was struck by a 2000 Ford Econoline van traveling westbound.

Bressler was transported by Commack Rescue to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Ford, 58-year-old Rafael Soriano, of Brentwood, was airlifted by Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
