Police Seek Driver in Fatal Central Islip Hit-and-Run

A Central islip man walking on Motor Parkway was struck and killed by a car, which then fled the scene Sunday morning, police said.

According to police, Lorenzo Fuentes, 64, was walking east on Motor Parkway at Highland Road in Central Islip when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle at 4:50 a.m.

Fuentes was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle involved is believed to be a silver metallic-colored, late model Dodge or Chrysler with damage to the front and passenger side, police said.

The investigation is continuing and police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has any information about the incident to contact the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
