Safety through the eyes of security cameras on school grounds
Are our children really safe?
Hello to all my fellow Commack friends who either grew up in commack or moved here due to the overwhelming belief this district is not of the best in the county. I hate to inform you but if your child is attending Burr you should know their Security system is so outdated that when they lost my Daughter at closing Bell they had no way to find her using their outdated security cameras, I was looking with security and the surveillance cameras trying to see which door she walked out of and if she even left the school, the size of the students was no larger then your fingernail, I was lucky enough to see her because she was wearing a neon pink north face jacket. So now I see her walking out the right side entrance door which leads to the parking lot so I ask to go to the camera on that door from the outside, their answer is they do not have one! Then I ask to give me a camera view of the parking area on that side, they say it is sporadic at best, I asked if they have cameras looking at the school from the entrance as exit drive though? They answer NO!! Now I am freaking out, they have no cameras to see if someone grabs your child and throws them in a car they CAN NOT tell you the car color, make, or plate number unless a parent happens to see this going on! I said this is insane to think with the money we pay in taxes and the district boasting how great they are, why do they not have our children safe with today’s society? So now an hour has gone by, my wife is now at the school with me, we are both crying while waiting in the police, the school is calling bus by bus to see if she got on a bus while knowing that day she is a walker every week because she has Gymnastics, mind you this is the second time the school lost my daughter! Finally I get a call from my niece who lives with us saying she just got home, the bus driver did not see her get in the bus and when he did a walk through he stated he did not see her then either. I wrote a letter to the Superintendent of this district and his response is we are aware and working to resolve this problem! Now I have to drive and pickup my daughter because I do not trust the safety of her with this school. I want all parents to be aware of the security safety that is in place to insure your child’s safety! Please join me to get this district to get this matter fixed before God forbid we have an incident that causes the lose of a child before they fix this MAJOR ISSUE!!!!! I hope you understand the severity of this incident. Thank you
