Stony Brook Medicine Opens New Facility In Commack

The new Advanced Specialty Care facility opened last week.

COMMACK, NY - Stony Brook Medicine recently celebrated the opening of Advanced Specialty Care — its new, multispecialty care center in Commack.

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the new center, located at 500 Commack Road, was held on April 18.

The 120,000 square foot center offers advanced care in more than 30 specialties and subspecialties including internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, dermatology, orthopedics, neurosurgery, surgery, urology and radiology/imaging.

“This is yet another step in our goal of creating an ambitious, integrated healthcare network for all of Long Island and beyond," Samuel L. Stanley Jr., MD, President, Stony Brook University said. “By engaging with our amazing faculty and our community physicians as partners, Stony Brook is expanding its ambulatory and primary care network to better manage the care of patients across Long Island,” he said.

The facility includes an on-site imaging center to provide x-rays, mammograms, ultrasounds, bone densitometry, CTs and MRIs.

It also serves as the new home of the Stony Brook World Trade Center Wellness Program, which recently received a five-year federal grant totaling more than $60 million from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.

“This new beautiful multispecialty care center in Commack reflects Stony Brook Medicine’s growing commitment to serve the healthcare needs of our patients no matter where they are located — now spreading our impact to western Suffolk County and beyond,” Kenneth Kaushansky, MD, Senior Vice President, Health Sciences, and Dean, Stony Brook University School of Medicine said.

Supporting Stony Brook Medicine at the grand opening of Advanced Specialty Care were a number of elected officials, including New York State Assemblyman Michael Fitzpatrick, New York State Assemblyman Andrew Raia, Suffolk County Legislator Kara Hahn, Suffolk County Legislator Leslie Kennedy, Suffolk County Legislator Robert Trotta and Brookhaven Town Councilwoman Valerie M. Cartright.

Fitzpatrick and Raia presented Stony Brook with a citation to commemorate the opening.
