#TakeActionTuesday with Relay For Life
Learn about volunteers throughout Long Island who have taken up the fight against cancer through Relay For Life events in their community.
"Relay For Life isn’t just a walk a thon, it’s a movement…"
Brooke is a science teacher, sister, caregiver, lover of all things outdoors and a RELAYER! She began Relaying 3 years ago, and is the teacher advisor for the Relay For Life of the Bellmore Merrick Central School District (BMCHSD)! Brooke says that once she saw the amount of effort that the students and faculty put into running this event, she was hooked! The passion for life that the volunteers demonstrated and the love of helping others was contagious. In 2014, this Relay raised over $75,000 and won the national award for #1 Rookie Relay For Life of the Year!
At this year’s Relay, Brooke was able to speak about her relationship with cancer. She describes the silent lap around the track during the Luminaria Ceremony as “absolutely breath-taking.” Brooke invites YOU to get involved this year and #takeactiontuesday. Join her as she cheers on survivors, or walk with her during the Luminaria Lap.
