Teen Charged With DWI After Elwood Crash

An East Northport teen faces a DWI charge after police say he was drunk when he crashed into another vehicle in Elwood Thursday night.

The Dix Hills Fire Department and Suffolk Police responded to a collision between a 1999 Honda and a Jeep on Jericho Turnpike and Eldorado Drive at about 9:20 p.m. 

No one was injured in the crash. The driver of the Honda, 18-year-old Ruben Gamaz, was arrested and charged with DWI, police said.

Dix Hills fire/rescue volunteers responded with two heavy rescue trucks, an ambulance and paramedic unit, under the command of Assistant Chief Alan Berkowitz and Joe Williamson.
