Two Commack Restaurants Shut Down

Since October, a total of four restaurants closed their doors.

Two more Commack restaurants closed down this month marking a total of four local restaurants to close down since October.

The Argentine restaurant Cafe Mendoza located on 169 Commack Road announced their closure over the weekend.

The restaurant, owned by Hugo Garcia, debuted the restaurant in May 2015 as a smaller version of his Huntington restaurant, Cafe Buenos Aires.

Garcia told Newsday that while he "put [his] heart, savings and knowledge into this space,” the restaurant could not find enough of an audience in Commack.

Cafe Buenos Aires remains open located on 23 Wall Street.

In addition, last Wednesday the local burger joint, Frizzles, announced their closure as well.

The restaurant opened less than six months ago in June on 2188 Jericho Turnpike.

Customers found a handwritten note on the front door reading “closed” with no other information.

In October, the international steakhouse Tony Roma's, previously located on 2 Henry Street and Pacific Moon Asian Fusion, previously located on 1171 Jericho Turnpike, both shut down.
