Voter's Guide: Commack School Budget, Board Election

What you need to know for Tuesday's vote.

Commack School District residents will vote on the district’s $183.22 million proposed budget for the 2014-15 school year on Tuesday.

The proposal calls for a 2.14 percent increase in spending over the current year and carries a 1.96 percent tax levy increase, which is within the state's tax cap.

Five candidates are running for two seats on the Commack Board of Education. Incumbent Mary Jo Masciello faces a challenge from Dan Fusco. George Marine, Catherine Kurten and Janine DiGirolamo are running for the seat being vacated by Peter Wunsch, who is not running for re-election.

Polls are open Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Commack Middle School. For more information on the budget, visit the district's website here
