WATCH: Rescue Group Saves Iguana That Scaled Roof Of LI Target

The iguana was seen climbing the wall of the local business on Monday afternoon.

COMMACK, NY - A Long Island-based animal rescue group saved an iguana that scaled the wall of a Commack Target on Monday afternoon.

In a video posted to the Strong Island Animal Rescue League Facebook page, the president showed that the iguana escaped from a tank outside the store and climbed up the wall until he almost reached the top.

"We had to act fast as they will not survive on their own here on Long Island," a post on the page reads. "We called some friends in the Fourth Precinct and got a police escort up to the roof."

After the police came, they attempted to capture the iguana in a net so the president grabbed him using his hands.

The iguana will be posted on a lost and found page. If nobody claims it, the animal will be put up for adoption.

"We love it when a plan comes together, teamwork saves them," the group wrote on the page.
