This year's BOE race will have the following contenders:
Seat #1 - a two way race between long term incumbent Mary Jo Masciello and Dan Fusco .
Seat #2 - a three way race between George Marine, Kathy Curten and Janine Digeralomo.
In Race #1, I personally favor Mr. Fusco over Ms.Masciello, as she has just been around to long. She may be a nice lady but I don't view her as an effective advocate any longer. I can't think of a single thing that has she done lately to get me to vote for her again..
Mr. Fusco has been a staunch advocate for change in the way the district does things. I've seen him speak at numerous meetings asking questions..and fighting for the kids. A blue collar working guy like him will bring a new perspective to the BOE...we have too many professionals on the board now..
In race #2, I would lean towards Mr. Marine. He ran a few years ago and barely lost. He has also spoken at a number of BOE meetings and is and voice for the kids, especially special needs kids. Although I hear Ms. Digeralomo and Ms. Curten are from the PTA, I have never seen either one of them stand up at a BOE meeting and ask a single question. I have no idea what their views are or why they are running. Maybe if they hold a meet the candidates night it will shed some light on what these women stand for and why they think they should be elected.
The last 2 BOE members have been successful in making an impact and bringing some changes, so the way I see it two more new people may help bring more changes next year.
So, who will you vote for and why? Please keep it civil and no disparaging personal remarks.
