Woman Arrested After Hit-and-Run Long Island Crash: Police

The drunk woman rear-ended a vehicle, sending it into a tree, before she fled the scene, police say. She was located two miles away.

COMMACK, NY – A 34-year-old woman was arrested following a hit-and-run crash in Commack Saturday night, police said.

According to police, Asia Johnson, of West Islip, was driving a 2005 Pontiac east on Jericho Turnpike, near Mayfair Terrace, when she rear-ended a 2005 Toyota and fled the scene just after 10:30 p.m.

The Toyota then crashed into a tree. The driver of the Toyota was taken to a nearby hospital, but police did not have any information on the driver's injuries.

Johnson was located about two miles away and arrested. She is charged with DWI-two previous convictions within 10 years and leaving the scene of an accident.
