Today's riddle: What do you call a one-legged Big Foot? 🤔 (Answer below!)
• How the Revolutionary War divided Cutchogue, and pitted two powerful neighbors against each other (northforksun.com) — Cutchogue's Revolutionary War past comes vividly to life in this retelling of how the conflict split local families, reshaped land ownership, and ultimately created today's library and Village Green. A recent talk at the Cutchogue New Suffolk Free Library traced the feud between Patriot Jared Landon and Loyalist Parker Wickham and its lasting imprint on familiar Cutchogue landmarks.
• Old Cutchogue Burying Ground Tours (eastendbeacon.com) — Cutchogue residents can step into local history this Saturday with guided, costumed tours of the Old Cutchogue Burying Ground, highlighting figures who helped shape the hamlet. Timed-entry groups start at 2 p.m. at Main Road and Harbor Lane, with tickets benefiting both the Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Council and North Fork Community Theatre.
• Inside Southold's Highway Department storm response as nor'easter topples trees, floods roads (timesreview.com) — Cutchogue drivers may still encounter debris and localized flooding as Southold's Highway Department continues cleaning up after a powerful nor'easter that toppled trees and swamped roads from New Suffolk through Cutchogue to Town Beach. Crews are working in shifts with barricades, heavy equipment, and coordination with PSEG to clear fallen trees, restore access, and address drainage issues over the next several days.
