2 Pets Rescued During North Babylon House Fire: FD

No residents were home at the time of fire on Tuesday afternoon.

NORTH BABYLON, NY - Officials rescued two pets from a North Babylon home after a fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon.

Members of the North Babylon Fire Company responded to the Claremont Avenue home at 1:27 p.m. after a report of smoke coming from the house.

No residents were home at the time so firefighters forced entry into the home to find high heat and smoke conditions.

The blaze was mostly contained to the kitchen area. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.

Two pets were removed from the home and transported to a local animal hospital.

The West Babylon Fire Department provided mutual aid to the scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
