2 Teens Arrested After Fleeing From Cops In Stolen Car: SCPD

The 15-year-olds lead cops on a chase after fleeing in a stolen car on Tuesday night, police said.

WYANDANCH, NY - Two 15-year-old boys were arrested after fleeing from officers in a stolen car in Wyandanch on Tuesday night, according to Suffolk Police.

Officers saw a 2018 Honda Accord, which was reported stolen in Nassau County earlier this month, being driven erratically on Straight Path near South 24th Street at 7:45 p.m., police said.

The officers then tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver of the Honda failed to stop and fled the scene in the car, police said.

Officers tracked the Honda in a police helicopter until it stopped near New Highway and Ralph Avenue in Copiague at 8:30 p.m., police said.

The driver and two passengers in the Honda then fled on foot, police said.

Canine officers tracked the two teen boys, who were not identified due to their age, to the backyard of a nearby home where they were arrested at 9:20 p.m., police said.

The third person involved has not been located. No injuries were reported.

Both teens were charged as juvenile delinquents and released them to the custody of their parents, police said.

They are scheduled to appear in Family Court at a later date.
