3 Suffolk County Teens Charged in Attack That Left 60-Year-Old Man Unconscious

The brutal assault was captured on video, which police released on Friday.

DEER PARK, NY - Three Deer Park teens face felony charges for a brutal assault of a 60-year-old man in Deer Park on Wednesday.

According to police, a 15-year-old male walking on the sidewalk of Deer Park Avenue near Seaman Place approached the man from behind at about 12:55 p.m. and punched him in the face.

The victim crashed to the pavement and was knocked unconscious, police said.

The attacker, along with 16-year-olds Jean Jimenez and Adonis Byers, fled the area in a car, leaving the victim inches from oncoming traffic, police said.

Several witnesses stopped to assist the victim and called 911. The victim, who is from Shirley, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center via Deer Park Rescue for treatment of multiple facial fractures.

After an investigation by First Squad detectives, Jimenez and Byers were arrested on Thursday and charged with first degree reckless endangerment and third degree assault, police said.

The other teen, who was 15 at the time of the attack but has since turned 16, was arrested on Friday. Police did not release his name. He is being charged as a juvenile and will be arraigned at Family Court on May 25 on charges of first degree reckless endangerment and third degree assault, police said.

About 40 minutes before attacking the 60-year-old man, the juvenile approached an 18-year-old man from behind, and without provocation, punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground at the Taco Bell located at 1937 Deer Park Ave. in Deer Park, police said. The teen is charged with third degree assault in that incident.
