3 Police Officers Rescue Dog From House Fire: PD
The Suffolk County Police trio saved a dog trapped in a Deer Park home that was ablaze on Monday morning.

BAY SHORE, NY — One Deer Park dog has a lot to be thankful for.
Three Suffolk County Police officers rescued a dog that was trapped in a house fire in Deer Park on Monday morning. Officers responded to a 911 call reporting a fire and arrived to find thick black smoke coming from a Homer Avenue home at 11:45 a.m, police said.
A resident of the home informed officers a dog and cat were still inside the house. Officers Zakary Goldbach, Joaquin Castillo and Justin Oshea entered the home. Officer Castillo located the dog and handed the animal to Officer Goldbach, who brought the animal outside. Police continued to search for the cat, which was able to safely leave the house on its own.

All three officers were taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of smoke inhalation, police said. The dog was reunited with its family outside and there were no other injuries reported. Detectives are investigating the cause of the fire.
