65-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed In Early Morning Crash: Police

LINDENHURST, NY — A pedestrian was struck and killed by an SUV early Sunday morning in Lindenhurst, according to police.

Jeffrey Schmohl, 65, of West Babylon, was crossing Sunrise Highway at North Greene Avenue at 5:18 a.m. when he was struck by an eastbound 2005 Toyota RAV-4, police said.

Schmohl died at the scene, according to police, who said the 58-year-old driver from Lindenhurst was not hurt and the vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
