85-Year-Old Woman Struck, Killed In Deer Park Parking Lot: PD
Mary Ferrara, 85, was standing by her car in a parking lot when a 2020 Toyota Rav4 hopped two curbs and struck her, police say.

DEER PARK, NY — An 85-year-old woman was struck and killed in a Deer Park parking lot Wednesday morning after a driver lost control of her car, Suffolk County Police said.
An 80-year-old woman was parked in a handicap parking space on 1944 Deer Park Ave. at 10:30 a.m., police said, when she lost control of her 2020 Toyota Rav4, hopped two curbs and entered the rear parking lot of 1948 Deer Park Ave. She struck Mary Ferrara, who was standing outside her 2010 Ford Fusion, police said.
The Toyota continued through the parking lot, hopped another curb and drove through bushes before stopping in the parking lot of 1960 Deer Park Ave., police aid.

Ferrara, of Deer Park, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center where she died from her injuries, police said. The driver of the Toyota did not require medical attention.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
