• Deer Park Woman Sentenced To 18 Years For Explosive Attack That Blew Off Boyfriend’s Hand: DA (patch.com) — Deer Park residents are learning that a 35-year-old local woman has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for throwing an explosive device into her boyfriend’s Deer Park bedroom, costing him his hand and part of his arm. Prosecutors say the 2024 attack followed prior threats involving dynamite, and Suffolk County’s district attorney called the punishment a measure of justice for severe domestic violence.    

• Taylor Mileti helps Hauppauge earn Suffolk Class B flag football title (newsday.com) — Deer Park High School’s flag football team fell 26-7 to Hauppauge in the Suffolk Class B championship game Wednesday night at Sachem East, despite two third-quarter interceptions by Deer Park’s Taylor Gabel. The Falcons briefly closed the gap to 19-7 before Hauppauge sealed the win with a late touchdown run.
