DEER PARK, NY — An Amityville man was arrested on impaired driving and weapons charges after police said he crashed a vehicle into a Deer Park home early Sunday morning.
Matthew Troche, 19, was driving south on Cayuga Avenue when he ran a stop sign and crashed into a home on Nicholls Road at about 4:45 a.m. on Aug. 30, Suffolk County police said.
No one inside the home was injured, police said.
Troche was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released. During a further investigation, police said officers found Troche in possession of a handgun and a high-capacity magazine.
Troche was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
He was being held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
