Deer Park Students Return For 2026-27 School Year

DEER PARK, NY — Students across the Deer Park School District returned to classrooms Sept. 3, kicking off the 2026-27 school year.

Students from prekindergarten through 12th grade returned to the district's five schools: Deer Park High School, Robert Frost Middle School, John F. Kennedy Intermediate School, John Quincy Adams Primary School and May Moore Primary School.

Across the district, students reconnected with friends, met their teachers and settled into their classrooms as the new school year got underway.

"We were so excited to welcome all our new and returning students," Robert Frost Principal Dr. Eliana Levey said. "Everyone seemed truly excited to begin the new year. Every start of school allows for a fresh start, and a chance to achieve so many goals. It's really a gift, and we look forward to a great school year ahead."

May Moore Principal Tammy Alcalde said the first day brought excitement for the district's youngest students.

"We were so happy to welcome our youngest learners back for another wonderful year at May Moore," Alcalde said. "The first day of school was filled with excitement, new friendships and endless possibilities."

John Quincy Adams Principal Dr. Lynn Coyle said seeing students return serves as a reminder of what makes the school community special.

"The first day of school is always a special one," Coyle said. "It brings such joy to see our students walk through the doors with excitement and big smiles, reminding us of what makes our school community so special. We are off to a wonderful start."
