• Deer Park High School Honors 12 Local 9/11 Victims With Wreaths (patch.com) — Deer Park High School recently marked the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with a moving ceremony honoring 12 community members who died in the attacks. Students placed wreaths on the front lawn and took part in lessons and activities focused on courage, compassion, and selflessness, connecting national history directly to Deer Park's own losses.
   

• Father was stabbed by son more than 40 times in Mastic apartment attack, DA says (greaterlongisland.com) — A Lake Ronkonkoma man has been indicted on a second-degree murder charge, accused of fatally stabbing his father, social worker and musician Edward Brown, earlier this month in Mastic. Brown's life was honored at services held Friday at Mangano Family Funeral Home in Deer Park, where loved ones remembered his gentle spirit and lifelong dedication to helping others.
