DEER PARK, NY — Deer Park residents looking to safely dispose of old documents can take advantage of a free paper shredding event Saturday.
Mangano Family Funeral Homes will host the event Oct. 3 from 9 a.m. to noon at 1701 Deer Park Ave. Shredding will continue until noon or until the mobile shredding truck reaches capacity, organizers said.
The event is open to the public and intended for residential use. Attendees can bring up to four bags or boxes of documents and will be able to watch as their paperwork is shredded on-site.
"We are proud to serve our community with care, compassion and integrity for more than 115 years," said Sal Mangano, president of Mangano Family Funeral Homes. "We are thrilled to offer this annual free shredding event so our neighbors can protect their identity and prevent fraud, clear out their clutter and help keep our community safe."
Only paper documents will be accepted. Staples and paper clips may remain attached, but binders, plastic sleeves, cardboard, electronics, hard drives and other non-paper materials will not be accepted.
Documents from commercial businesses will also not be accepted.
Mangano Family Funeral Homes has operated as a family-owned business for more than 115 years.
