Brooklyn Man Charged In Fatal Wyandanch Shooting: PD
Police arrested the man who fatally shot and killed a 26-year-old in August 2020.
WYANDANCH, NY — The man who shot and fatally killed a Bay Shore resident in August 2020 has been arrested and charged, Suffolk County police said.
Basheer Vinson, 28, of Flatbush, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder on Tuesday, police said.
On August 2, 2020, at about 2:10 a.m., two men were leaving a party at a Patton Ave. home when they were shot in the street, police said.

Mark Birthwright Jr., 26, of Bay Shore, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The other man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
After an investigation, police arrested Vinson in Brooklyn.

He will be held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
