Canvassing and Petitioning for Political Candidates-the Deal.
What is the Constitutional way of Petitioning
I'm a candidate for NYS Assembly 12th AD; A Special Election has been scheduled for April 28th. The Election for the NYS Assembly date; happens to also be scheduled on the U.S. Presidential Primary and we're hoping for sign voter turn-out. Sometimes, Constituents or voters express frustration over the process, but it is necessary to gather fellow party member signatures so that Candidates or your candidate has the opportunity to have their name placed on their Election Day ballot. For the the 12th Assembly district, our State Election is April 28th. Our deadline to gather petitions is next week and you must be registered as a voter in the political party for which the petitioner is collecting signatures.
A candidate or their Campaign knocking on your door or ringing your bell is not a solicitation or considered a trespass. I know myself and members of my team are courteous, and as I mentioned Petitioning is required by NYS Election Law. Gathering Signatures is what marks as as a Democratic Form of Government. Petitioning separates us from a Monarch form of government and symbolizes what our Founding Father's and Mother's worked diligently on to ensure citizen rights to participate in Government Voting Processes. Petitioning provides candidate choices on the ballot for the Primary or General Election. I'm one of those Statewide Candidates and my team going door to door asking for your support by signing my petition or advising fellow voter registrants that I'll be at different locations throughout the district where you can sign my petition.
