Police ID Man Found Dead on Side of Long Island Road

UPDATE 9:50 p.m.: Police have identified the man as 40-year-old Terrance L. Mitchell, of Flatbush, Brooklyn. Mitchell was shot in the head and it is possible he was killed in an unknown location before being transported and left on the side of the road, according to Homicide Squad detectives.

WYANDANCH, NY - A man was found dead on the side of the road by a sanitation worker in Wyandanch on Thursday morning, according to Suffolk Police.

A person on a garbage truck found the body of a man on the side of Spruce Street, south of Jefferson Avenue, at 7:15 a.m.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

Detectives believe the man, who has yet to be identified by police, suffered head trauma and was the victim of violence.
