Deer Park Barber Shop Still Open After Crash
The barber shop took a direct hit from an out-of-control car, but reopened the next day to customers.
The took one hard on the chin on June 23rd – an out-of-control vehicle burst through the front windows of the storefront, only coming to a stop after hitting the back wall. The next morning, though, a little wood covering the front and the shop was reopened for business.
"It was shocking to say the least," said Melissa Dicker, a barber who was sitting behind a counter when the gold Ford Focus hatchback slammed through the front 10 foot windows. The car continued forward into a barber's chair and station and finally smacking the back wall a few feet away, crushing much of the drywall behind it.
The driver, a 23 year old Hispanic woman according to Dicker, seemed shocked after the crash.

"No one was getting their haircut at the time," said Dicker. "There was barely anyone here at the time." Deer Park-North Babylon Patch was at the time of the crash.
The store was closed for the rest of that Friday following the crash, but was reopened the next morning with two large wooden boards replacing the windows and a tarp noting "We Are Open" hanging from the front.

Dicker said she had no idea how much money it would cost to repair the storefront, but expected it to be fixed within the coming weeks.
