Deer Park DECA Club Awarded 5 Trophies In State Conference

A total of 19 students brought home medals and five earned trophies, the district says

DEER PARK, NY — Deer Park High School students were recently recognized for their entrepreneurial skills.

The district announced that 27 business students from the school's Distributive Education Clubs of America club recently competed and earned awards at the New York State Career Development Conference in Rochester.

A total of 19 students brought home medals and five earned trophies, the district said.

The top five overall trophy winners, all finishing in second place, were: Michael Crescenzo (Hotel and Lodging Management); Andrew Dolinsky (Accounting Applications); Saima Hoque (Business Finance); and the team of Nico Bruni and Adrian Herrera (Business Law and Ethics).

These five trophy winners earned the right to move on to compete in DECA’s International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia at the end of April.

The top 10 test medal winners were: Shadat Alam (Personal Financial Literacy); Sadat Chawdhury (Entrepreneurship); Yoki Lin (Apparel and Accessories); Bart Polster (Personal Financial Literacy); and the team of Shujana Aurin and Katia Papailler (Hospitality Services).

The top 10 role play medal winners were Madison Cadena (Restaurant and Food Service Management) and Sonam Kataria (Apparel and Accessories).

The top 10 overall medal winners were: Nora Elmoussaoui (Food Marketing); Jade Griffin (Apparel and Accessories); and the teams of Shubat Alam and Adib Shaihk (Travel and Tourism) and Umar Qasir and Nicholas Stamatakis (Financial Analysis).

Additionally, Saima Hoque and Nicholas Stamatakis were inducted into the New York DECA Honor Society.
