Long Island Man Wins $1M Powerball Lottery Prize

DEER PARK, NY — As summer comes to an end, one Deer Park man still has plenty of sunshine to smile about.

Carlos Moran, Jr. claimed his $1 million prize last week, for matching the first five numbers selected in the June 13 Powerball drawing, the New York Lottery announced.

"This is truly a blessing," Moran said.

According to the New York Lottery, he received a single lump sum payment on Aug. 31, totaling $651,000 after required withholdings.

The winning numbers for the evening’s drawing were: 02-27-42-44-51 Powerball 25.

New York’s Powerball game generated $358,376,004 in total sales during fiscal year 2021-2022, its website said. School districts throughout Suffolk County received $270,015,864 in Lottery Aid to Education funds during the same period.
