Deer Park Teen Dies After Being Hit by Car
Accident occurred in Deer Park Saturday night.

A Deer Park teen walking with her sister in Deer Park Saturday night was struck by an SUV and died from her injuries at the hospital, police said.
According to police, 17-year-old Shakira Wilson was walking west on Long Island Avenue, near Pearsall Avenue, with her 21-year-old sister when she was hit by a 2010 Lexus SUV that was traveling west on Long Island Avenue at about 8:10 p.m.
Wilson suffered a serious head injury and was transported by Deer Park Rescue to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip. She was initially listed in critical condition, but succumbed to her injuries early Saturday morning, police said.

The driver of the Lexus, 67-year-old Joseph Ulysse, of Wheatley Heights, suffered minor injuries in the crash and was also taken to Good Samaritan. A female passenger in the SUV was not hurt.
The Lexus was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. No criminal charges have been filed.
