NORTH BABYLON, NY — A 29-year-old Deer Park man was charged with drunken driving after he drove the wrong way and crashed his van into a car and then a building in North Babylon on Monday night, Suffolk police said.
Aliro Palaciostobar was driving a 2003 Ford E250 van northbound in the southbound lane of Deer Park Avenue, near Edmunton Drive, when the van “sideswiped a southbound 2008 Nissan Altima and then veered into” a building on Springwood Drive at about 10:30 p.m., police said.
When officers first arrived at the scene, they saw Palaciostobar “in an intoxicated condition,” police said, adding, he was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip “for evaluation.” The Nissan’s driver was not injured in the crash, police said. The Town of Babylon Building Inspector’s office was called to the scene to evaluate damage to the building, according to police.
