East Northport Man Found Dead After SUV Crashes Into Sign In Deer Park: Police

The 52-year-old was found inside a Honda Pilot on the center median near Weston Avenue Sunday night, police say.

DEER PARK, NY — A 52-year-old East Northport man was pronounced dead after a crash in Deer Park on Sunday night, according to Suffolk County police.

A motorist driving northbound on Deer Park Avenue spotted a 2009 Honda Pilot on the center median against a metal road sign just north of Weston Avenue and called 911 at 9:22 p.m., police said.

First Precinct patrol officers responded to the scene and removed the driver and sole occupant, identified as Jose Hernandez-Escobar, from the vehicle, police said.

Detectives believe Hernandez-Escobar may have suffered a medical event before the crash, police said.

Hernandez-Escobar was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
