After that there was a special assembly in the gym where each veteran was introduced, along with their branch of military service. All students sang "America, the Beautiful," followed by the fourth and fifth grade students singing "God Bless America" and kindergarten through second grade singing "Grand Old Flag."

Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly and Town of Babylon Councilman Terence McSweeney also attended the event to pay homage to local veterans. They also recognized several local heroes who recently took part in saving a man’s life from a house fire on Oct. 23 across the street from the school.
