Jamaican Eatery Returns To Wyandanch After 6 Year Absence

The eatery closed in 2012 after relocating to North Babylon, but the owner opened a second location in the area earlier this month.

WYANDANCH, NY - A popular Jamaican eatery has returned to Wyandanch this month after moving to another location 6 years ago.

Island Jerk opened its door at a new location on 9 Station Drive near the LIRR station.

“The town asked us to return,” owner Lorraine Kennedy told Newsday, “and now we’re just around the corner from where we used to be.”

The restaurant was previously located on Straight Path before Kennedy relocated to 1350 Deer Park Avenue in North Babylon. Now, both locations will be open serving authentic Jamaican food.

The eatery is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
