LI 'Adopt A Lamppost' Event To Fund Ovarian & Breast Cancer Research
Participants can decorate a lamppost in teal or pink, to raise awareness of breast or gynecological cancers.
NORTH BABYLON, NY — Those affected by breast or gynecological cancer can soon help others while beautifying their community.
The North Babylon Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition, will be hosting an "Adopt a Lamppost" fundraiser for six weeks in September and October, to raise awareness of breast or gynecological cancers.
On Sept. 17, participants can "adopt", or decorate a lamppost in downtown North Babylon in teal or pink ribbons, lights, and a personalized tag. The event will take place at Marion G. Vedder Elementary School, located at 794 Deer Park Avenue in North Babylon from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

September is national ovarian cancer awareness month, and its symbol is a teal ribbon. October is national cancer awareness month, and is represented by a pink ribbon.
All donations will benefit the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition, a non-profit organization that funds research, as well as helps supports those with breast or gynecological cancers.

Each lamppost is a $20 donation, and can be paid through check or Venmo.
