Mail Carrier Robbed In North Babylon: Police

Suffolk County police said the carrier was in his mail truck around 3:30 p.m Friday when the suspect approached him and demanded his keys.

NORTH BABYLON, NY — Suffolk County police are searching for an unknown suspect after a U.S. Postal Service carrier was robbed in North Babylon on Friday.

According to police, the carrier was in his mail truck around 3:30 p.m. after removing mail from a box located at the corner of Hughes Lane and Miller Avenue. Police said the suspect approached him and demanded the key that opened all mailboxes in the North Babylon area.

According to police, the suspect reached into his zip-up hooded sweatshirt and gestured like he had a gun.

Police said the carrier complied, and the suspect then fled northbound on Miller Avenue towards Sylvan Road in a light blue sedan.
