Man Charged In May Hit-And-Run That Killed Baby: DA
A man has been arrested and charged for a May 2021 hit-and-run crash on Long Island that killed an 8-month-old girl.
WYANDANCH, NY — A Wyandanch man has been arrested and charged for a May 2021 hit-and-run crash which killed an 8-month-old girl, the Suffolk District Attorney's Office said.
Christian Gay, 25, was arrested and arraigned on Friday, on an unsealed indictment after a volunteer surrender. He is charged with with leaving the scene of an incident without reporting, a felony, criminally negligent homicide, a felony and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.
Gay was placed on supervised release at arraignment and his license was suspended.

On May 2 at 9 p.m. a 2006 Nissan Murano was traveling eastbound on Davidson Street, near Pine Street, in Wyandanch, police said, when it collided with a westbound 2010 Lexus and overturned.
Saige Berry of Wyandanch, an 8-month-old girl and a passenger in the Murano, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip in critical condition. She was later pronounced dead, police said.

Berry’s mother, Dywanna Finney, 24, of Wyandanch, a passenger in the Murano, was taken to the same hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Lexus, Tyesha Forte, 42, of Wyandanch, sustained minor injuries.
Gay allegedly fled the scene on foot, police said.
