Man Tased After Wild Police Chase: PD
The 21-year-old led an officer on a chase after striking a cop car, which ended with him getting tased trying to jump a fence, police say.
WHEATLEY HEIGHTS, NY - A Bay Shore man was arrested following a wild chase after he intentionally struck a cop car during a traffic stop in Wheatley Heights on Monday afternoon, according to Suffolk Police.
An officer was on patrol on Lee Avenue in Wyandanch when he saw a blue Ford traveling eastbound making a turn without signaling, police said. Instead of pulling over, the driver, identified as 21-year-old Daevon Cannon, sped away, police said.
For the next several minutes, Cannon was seen driving erratically, striking a mailbox on Washington Avenue and leaving the scene, police said. The officer then activated his lights and sirens and followed the car until it struck a telephone pole at the intersection of Washington Avenue and N. 27th Street in Wheatley Heights at 2 p.m., police said.

The officer ordered Cannon and an occupant to exit the car, but Cannon put the car in reverse and drove at the responding officer, forcing him to jump out of the car's path before it hit the marked police cruiser, police said.
The two then abandoned the car on Colonial Spring Road and fled on foot. The officer chased them and eventually found Cannon trying to jump a fence. Cannon then reached toward his waistband and the officer used his Taser to strike him, police said.
